Reynolds, New South Wales), by the English thoroughbred sire, The Drummer; dam Corlsande, by New Warrior, dam 10. The Drummer, by Rataplan, a son of The Baron, and full-bro'her to Stockwell (the Prince of Stallions). Rataplan was the winner of 42 races in England, and the sire of numerous winners. The Drummer won the Great Metropolitan Stakes, and ran a. close third lor the Derby before leaving Bngland ; and was second on the list of winning sire 3at the time of hia death in Australia. My Niece, the dam of The Drummer, was a very high-class maro, and was got by that superior racehorse, Cowl, the best horse in Eiv.'lnnd at two and three years of age. Cowl, by Bay Middleton, dam Crucifix (the dam Of Surplic, a n. ver- forgotten horse). There is one feature in the pedirree of Surplice thut may be pointed out. An a strange coincidence, he wae got by Touchstone out of Crucifix, and he won the fct. Leger ; Crucifix, by Priam, and she won the Oaks ; and Priam (her sire) won the Derby ; thin numbering tho winners of the three great raeeß in his three nearest of kin. , , Corisandb, the dam of Wakatipu, is also the dam of Chicago (winner of tho Caulfleld Cup), Churchil[, i Michigan (stood performers), and Primrose (the data of Wildroae, the winner of the Newm rket Handicap) Primrose's yearling at last year's sale of blood stock realised two thousand three hundred guineas. Corlsande is also full-sister to Flora Mclvor, the dam of Mr T. Morrin's celebrated mare Frailty (dam of Trenton, Cuirassier, Cissy, Niagara, Mary, and Zalanski, all large winners in New Zealand and Australia). New Warrior, the sire of Corisande, was the sire of three winners of the Melbourne Gup, in Tim Wlnffler, Warrior, and Pearl. Tim Whifßcr also won the Australian J C. Plate three times, and the Metropolitan Stakes. Prophet, by New Warrior, won Sydney Gold Cup, and Tarragon aud Romula both won the Champion Race, three miles. Last, but not least, is Wakatipu himself. Through his viens courses the blue blood of most of the fleetest and fashionable thoroughbred hors-s in Now Zealand, Australia, and England. Thackcmy, Misfortune, and Pouawa. This ra.:e was the fastest on record, 2min. 38sec for the lj nnle« ; ran third Place Handicap, carrying Bst 81b, »ame day, the mile being run in lmin. 44see. Wakatipu started in several races, but did not gain a place, t 1 rough having to carry such imposts as 9st 121 b, 9st 7lb, and 9st 61b. Wnkatipu ha proved himself a bri liant and consistent performer at all distances. Wakatipu easily gained first prize and the Society's medal at tho Poverty Bay A. and P. Show for the best thoroughbred sire, beatjßg Hukatero, Derringer, Morpheus, Kalo nnd Hailstorm.
