As I stated last week Ministers have determined to bring the session to a close as early as possible, and the probabilities aro that the business will be concluded by Thursday week, 6th proximo, at the latest. The Cabinet have at length determined on the order of business for the rest of the session, and when the Premier makes his statement to-morrow I anticipate id will be found tho following measures are to be proceeded with : — Land and Income Assessment Act, Payment of Members, Mining Act Amendment Bill, Kaiapoi Reserves No 2 Bill, Westland, Grey, Inangahua and Buller Counties Bill, Vehicle Licensing Bill, Naval, Military Settlers and Volunteers Land Grants Bill, Servants Registry Offices Bill, Land Transfer Act Amendment Bill, Foreign Assurance and Insurance Companies Bill, Public Works Act Amendment Bill and North Island Main Trunk Railway Loan, Applications Act Amendment Bill. Second reading of Government Railways Act Amendment Bill, which provides for giving the Minister the power of veto over the action of . the Commissioners, will probably be taken, but no effort will be made to carry the measure any further. Mr Cadman will endeavor to pass the Native Land Validation of Titles Bill, but it is expected to meet with considerable opposition, and may not become law this session. The members of both branches of the Legislature were thrown iuto a state of excitement this forenoon on its becoming known that the Marquis of Kipon had cabled to the Earl of Glasgow advising him that he must accept the ndvioe of his Ministers ie calls to tho Council. The intelligence was conveyed by the Earl of Glasgow to Sir Patrick Buckley, and by j him to the Premier. Immediately the news was known in the lobbies members clubbed together in knots and discussed the probable outcome of the matter. The general opinion seems to be that tho Earl of Glasgow will resign the Governorship of the colony. The Cabinet are likely to meet this afternoon" to decide what course of action under the circumstances they will take. The Public Works Statement, is, I understand, to be brought down almost immediately, either to-morrow or Wednesday at the latest.
