East Coast Letter.
Waipiro, Sept. 19. A very plensant ball was given by the bachelors at Awanui on the 9th inst. Dancing commenced at 8 o'clock, and was kept up with energy and enjoyment until midnight, when guests and entertainers adjourned to supper. The repast left nothing to be desired, and was provided in a manner that was highly creditable to Mr Walker. After supper dancing was resumed and kept up with unflagging spirit until 530 a.m. Mr Sterling was musician, and Mr Lipine M.C. There were about twenty couples present at the entertainment, which was given in Mr Milner's hall. Had the weather been more settled and the roads in better order there would, no doubt, have been a much larger nssembly, a general invitation having been issued to all the residents on this part of the Coast.
A ball is to be given in Mr Arthur's woolshed, Tokomaru, to-morrow evening. Mr G. J. White, the honorary secretary, is sparing no trouble to nuke the nffnir pass off pleasantly. A large dancing contingent of ladies and gentlemen from Waipiro are preparing to participate in the evening's enjoyment.
