P.B. TURF CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Turf Club was held this afternoon, Mr Woodbine-Johnson, in the chair. The following report was read : — The Committee of the Poverty Bay Turf Club herewith present the Annual Statement of accounts and balance-sheet to 9th August 181)2. Since our last annual meeting of members the Club have opened their new racecourse at Makaraka, and so satisfactory have been the returns for the past season's racing (the Spring meeting showing a balance of £4?) 14s 9, and the Annuals £523 13 Gd), that the guarantee £400 overdraft to the Union Bank has been wiped off, £102 10s represents our fixed deposit account, and the cash balance, with contra and other accounts, shows £33 13s 9d. The liabilities arc £587 103 debentures, the interest on which amount, now due, has been provided for and will be paid on application to the Hon. Treasurer. The accounts show that the outlay on the new course amounts to £1660 14s od. Of this £4(jO 14s od has been written down, leaving the asset standing at £1200. The lease of the property has now twelve year* to run, at the low rental of £32 10s per annum. Daring the past season the Agricultural and Pastoral Society hare held their Show, and the Waerenga-a-hika and Native Jockey Clubs . their race-meetings on the Club's grounds. The officials of the Club have found the new buildings convenient ami easily worked, while visitors to the races have been much pleased with the accommodation provided for them, and the picturesque surroundings of the racecourse. Your Committee beg to thank Messrs Parker, Winter, and Campbell, for their services as honorary secretary, starter, ami judge. According to the rules Messrs Dobhie, Wethered, and Parker, retire by rotation from the Committee, but are eligible for re-election. G L. SUNDiOIILAM', Chairman of Commit tee. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs Dobbie, Wethered, and Parker were re-elected members of the committee. Ten new members were proposed for the Club.
