Rowing- Representatives.

ANNUAL MATCH WITH NAPiKR. [BY OUTRNJfiER.] The annual rowimj mutches between representatives from the Gisbornoand Poverty Bay, Napier and Union Rowing Clubs will be rowed off on the Inner Harbor, Napier, next week, commencing on Wednesday afternoon. The Gisborne Rowing Club will be represented by the following crew : O. Sandlant (stroke) W. J. Heunessv (°) W. Nesbitt (3) W. J. Green (bow) Judging the crew by the past performances of the individuals who compose it, I think the Committee have made the best possible selection. The average weight of the men is 10 stone lib which for a "rep" crew is rather li^jht, but there are Aery few heavy men in the club. The crew will leave here L\ splendid condition and quite able to pull a severe race all the way. In their trials over the course distance their time was exceedingly good, so the men are confident of being able to give a good account of themselves. The Poverty Bay Club's crew are placed as follows : — W. Fox (stroke) I Li. Richardson (2) W. Walters (3) | J. Walters (bow) This crew in my opinion is the best ever picked to represent the Poverty Bay Club, but I am afraid they are very short of work, not through any fault of the men, but on account of two of the crew being in the Fire Brigade team and consequently not being able to get often enough in the boats, but notwithstanding their want of work, being such ft good crew I expect to bear of them

giving the Napier and Union crews all they can do to beat them. The crews leave here on Friday evening, accompanied by Charlie Muir, who will steer both crews in the four races.
