Great Bush Fires.

» ■ Syi>ney, Jan. 4. — Hundreds of thousands of acres in the vicinity of Brookong, in the Riverina district, have been laid waste by the bush fires which are the largest ever known in that part of the colony. The fire, which was caused by a child treading on a wax match, is still burning and as the weather is hot it will continue unless rain falls. It is calculated that it will take two or three seasons to restore the grass to the condition it was in previous to the fire.
