In the course of an intervaw he said the outlook for a successful termination of the National Contention was gloomy, as he believes the constitution will be such as neither New South Wales nor Victoria will accept. NEWCASTLE, March 26. The miners here have voted L2OO in aid of the Denniston miners. ADELAIDE, March 26. A trans- continental exploring expedition has arranged to leave Peake in a ' fortnight, and proposes to be absent for twelve months, during which time it will endeavor to fill in the blanks in the map respecting Central Australia. Mr Lindsay, of Adelaide, will have charge of the expedition. Dr Elliott, of Tovvnsville, goos as botanist ; Mr Helms, of Sydney, as natu- , ralist ; and Mr Stresch, of Adelaide, as geologist.
