Fighting in Egypt
SEVERE DEFEAT OF ARABS. Suakim, Feb. 21. The Egyptian troops engaged in the assault on Tokar were commanded by English officers. The troops advanced on Tokar down through a thick bush, narrowly escaping an onslaught by two thousand Dervishes, who assaulted the old Government buiUings, where the troops were entrenched. The fighting occupied an hour and a half, when the Egyptian cavalry with a brilliant charge swept down on the rebels, completely crushing them. It is estimated that the Dervishes' loss was one thousand killod, including every man of importance except. Osman Digna, who witnessed the fight from tho neighboring village of Alfii. After success at Tokar, the Egyptians occupied Alfit without opposition from Osman, who fled to Tainsin. A large quantity of guns and stores and a number of ba Hirers woro captured at Tokar. Thu Egyptian loss was twelve killed, including Captain Barrow, of the Lancashire Regiment, and four Egyptian officers, and forty-two men were wounded, including Captain Birch, of the Hussars.
