A number of Unionists have returned to work during the past few days, and in some of the Western colleries ifc has been arranged that Unionists work in the day time and free laborers the night shifts. Oct. 27. The Chairman of the Miners Conference states that the strike is practically at. an end owing to the dissension among marine ■ delegates from Sydney and Melbourne, the latter having sought a -conference without the consent of the former. Melbourne, Oct. 27. The officers out on strike are returning to their ships where practicable. < The wharf laborers and seamen complain bitterly of the action of the marine officers in deserting them. The Pastoralista Union is formulating a scheme to organise free shearers. Newcastle, Oct. 26. At a meeting of delegates of Northern miners it was resolved to resume work at once, but the final decision was reserved for a ballot of miners, the result of which will probably be known to-morrow night.
