The oearings of the strike will be discussed, uud it is expected that if nothing comes of it the mines in these districts will be worked by free labor. A conference takes place between the southern mine owners and the men next week, which it is anticipated will lead to a permanent settlement. Melbournr, Oct. 22. The master butchors have decided to lock out the men on Saturday unless they c inform to the new rules. The Slaughtormen's Union will remain passive and allow the members of the Union to Ik locked out. It\ is understood that the butchers refuse to cut up meat killed bj free labor. i HOME AND FOREIGJN.
