LABOR DISPUTES.

RIOTOUS STRIKERS : MILITARY AID NECESSARY. [By Eleotrio Telegraph.— Copyright. — P er Press Ass'd.— Reed March 19, 9.15 a.rh.] ■•■■- London, Mar. 17. The colliery owners have appointed a committee to meet the delegates of miners on Thursday next. The settlement of matters in dispute is now more -hopeful, but in the event of owners refusing to give way to some extent the colliers are determined to fight to the bitter end. In consequence of the riotous behaviour of those on strike at Liverpool an additional 500 troops have been sent there, as it is believed that the situation is grave. The rioters upset a load of grain driven by a non-Union man and stabbed another. Mounted police were called out and dispersed the mob. The federated colliery owners have reiterated their refusal to the colliers' terms, and have approached the committee appointed to confer with the miners' delegates to promote an amicable settlement, and if possible arrange a method for the prevention of future disputes. (Received March 19, 1.20 a,m.) March 18. The Liverpool strikers stoned the police constables during a riot which occurred there yesterday. . Several of the large factories and mills at Bradford, Burnley and Sheffield have been closed owing to the strike among the colliers. Some of the colliery proprietors at Bath and in North Wales have yielded to the demands of the men. Twenty thousand of the Yorkshire minei-s have succeeded in obtaining an advance of wages. The Bir ken head dockers and ,f our teen thousand of the Elswick engineers have joined the strikers.
