During the recent visit of Mr O'Connor, Postmaster-General, to Melbourne, he had several interviews with the representative of the Eastern Extension Cable Company relative to the proposed duplication of the cable between New South Wales and New Zealand. The result of the interviews he has embodied in a minute which will shortly be considered in Cabinet. The strike among the Broken Hill miners, owing to the engagement of blacklegs, have been satisfactorily arranged, and the men will resume work. MELBOURNE, Nov. 14. The Howard arrived from Kaipara yesterday. She experienced most violent weather on the voyage across, and is making water. In order to save the vessel 40,000 feet of kauri had to be jettisoned. Nov. 15. It is expected that a Loan Bill for between three and five million pounds for railway works will shortly be submitted to Parliament.
