The Riverside Road.
. ■*> • An adjourned meeting of the What.-iupoko Road Board was held last evening to consider the non-completion of the Riverside road contract. Present : Messrs Coleman (Chairman), Joyce, Clayton, O'Meara, and Porter. Mr O'Ryan stated that the quantity of gravel bad been delivered, and that the quality -was equal to the sample. He estimated that 40 yards of gravel on hard places, carefully placed, would make the road good. The Chairman suggested that L2O be deducted from the final payment due to Mr O'Neill. Mr Joyce moved and Mr O'Meara seconded, that Lls be the sum deducted. Mr Clayton moved as an amendment that the contractor be paid his contract moneys, less L2O to be deducted for damages to work by delay in completing it. The motion was carried. It was agreed to allow Mr Knox to cease work on his contracts for Fox and Russell streets on a xlay to be fixed by the Engineer, on condition that he resumes work when directed.
