The police authorities are of opinion that special steps are required to be taken to siippi'es3 the inflow of French recidivistes from Now Caledonia to Australia. They state t lie French authorities succeed in preventing escape by French vessels, but there are large numbers who manage to gut away from the island by means of English and Colonial trading vessels. (Received June 28, 12.15 p.m.) Deliveries of breadstuff's during the week are as follows : — From Victoria, 167 tons of flour ; from Adelaide, 435 tons of flour, 60 tons of wheat ; from New Zealand, 391 tons of flour, 1117 tons of, wheat. Owing to the dry condition of the wheat from New Zealand it is now being milled without any mixture of Sonth Australian wheat.
