NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITS.
It seems that the New Zealand art exhibits at the Colinderios have been most successful. The Canterbury Star, in writing on the subject, takes credit for having" from the first urged that special attention should bn paid to pictorial exhibits on the ground that they form the most triod of object lessons, speak in a universal language, and give the clearest evidence of the mental culture attained by those who produce them. It was at the suggestion of that journal that the studies by the pupils at the Christchurch School of Art were forwarded. These and tho pictures and photos have attracted much notice, or, as the paper puts it, the honors won ar3 being ungrudgingly given. From our knowledge of landscape work we believe that not a few examples sent from New Zealand studies would find good places, and some of them were hung on the line. We have been told by our London correspondent how readily the pictures found purchasers, and we now learn that the Magazine of Art, an admirable publication of Messrs Cassel At Co , is busy with of a special paper on art Zealand, and with illustrations. These are to be selected from the pictures shown in the Colonial Exhibition. The artists who have been thus selected for representation in the Magazine's November issue are Messrs John Gibb, Kennett Watkins, and Eugene Vonguerd.
