FIRE BRIGADE CONTESTS
Nai>ier, to-day. The following are the results of the final contests yesterday. For the eighth event, Alarm and Rush 200 yards, only four teams entered, two of Kumara and two of Masterton. Hanslow, of Masterton, Ist ; Schulst, Kumara, 2nd. Firemen's Flat Race 200 yards : Hanglow, Ist ; Copland, (Wanganui), 2 ; Brady, (South Dunedin), 3. Time 2min. 4-sthsecs. Tenth event, a Tug of War between blue and red uniforms, was won by the blues. A banquet is to be held to-night. At a meeting of the fire brigades association it was decided to hold the next conference in Auckland if a demonstration can be arranged there. A gold medal was voted *o the ex-secretary, Robinson, in recognition of his services. Later In engine practice (dry) for 1 man Rangiora was first (£11) ; Kumara 2nd, (£6) ; Spit 3rd, (3). In the ladder rescue race, 2 men, Napier (£2O) was Ist ; Ballarat (£10), 2nd ; and Napier second team (£(>) 3rd. In Hose and Hydr.int practice Napier (£ls) was Ist ; Ballarat City (£10), 2nd ; and Dunedin City (£5 ss) 3rd.
