WELLINGTON GOSSIP.
[krom our own correspondent] Wellington, this day. The Council has now resorted to rather underhand means of getting rid of a Councillor. Mr Maginnity, one of the Councillors, dißguaied with the state of the ! Borough affairs, sent in his resignation, but afterwards sent a letter of withdrawal. On this, a hurried meeting of the Council was called to consider the resignation, notice of which was not sent to Maginniiy. He, however, accidentally heard what was in the wind, and rushed off to vote on tiie question, but arrived just iv time to learn that the Council, ignoring his withdrawal, had accepted the resignation by 6 to 5.
