CORRESPONDENCE.

(We do not hold oui^els-ea responsible) for opinion expressed by eorreapondentg.)

[To the Editor of the. Herald.]

Sir, — Your leader of Saturday describes the woath ;r kwt week as bitter and miserable, and a stranger reading that articlo would infer that this place (Poverty Bay) does not enjoy the salubrious climate it really does. Your article is altogether overdrawn in more particulars than one — the weather was not extreme ; the writer of this sat in an offije every diiy last week without a fire, and the thermometer did did not rani^e anything like so low as I have known here. Your remarks about the natives not having money or credit are altogether erroneous ; they have plenty, aud the work of the Native Land Court put them in a position to obtain very large sums if they wanted it. Many differ with you, Mr. Editor, in your remarks contained in your leader. Last week was one of the most exceptional weeks that has happened in Poverty Biy for a long time, and should he marked in the calendar with a red line. The orders made by the Native Land Court in the subdivision of the Pukepapa, Ruangarehu, Ngakaroa, and other blocks, should certainly entitle the clay in which the business of subdivision was concluded, to rank as a rod letter day in the annals of Tnrangauui. — I am, &c, A Nativk.
