HONG KONG, September 15
Sir George Bowen, Governor of this colony, has gone to Pekin, but nothing has yet transpired as to the nature of his mission.
PARIS, September 15.
The latest reports from Tonquin claim that the French troops have carried the principal positions occupied by the enemy at the point of the bayonet. General Covet has retired upoon Haudi, leaving garrisons in possession at the various forts recently captured.
LONDON, Sept. 15
The Marquis of Tseng and M. Waddington, who have been deputed by the French Cabinet to conduct negotiations with reference to the Franco-Chinese difficulty, in Tonquin, arrived in England and have gone to Walmer Castle, the seat of Lord Granville, to confer with the British Foreign Minister with the view of arriving at a settlement of tho difficulty.
