The nominations are now all completed, 241 candidates have b^en nomidated for the 9ft seats, including the Maori districts ; of those, however, two have retired, and twelve have been elected without opposition. A smart shock of earthquake was felt here this morning, but in the South Island it was very strong, and of considerable duration, fully JO aeo»nd*. Accounts have been received from Greymouth, West port, Renfton, Charleston, Hokitika, Kumara and other places of the shock. The Appeal Court was occupied all yesterday with the case W. L. R »es v. Birker, an application for a new trial. Tho decision was reserved.
