This Day,
A man, named Daniel O'Brien, was arrested yesterday on a charge of setting fire to haystacks at Fencouvt, Cambridge. . Thomas Collwick, telegraphist at Whangaroa, attempted to commit suicide with chloral. His state is dangerous. A cablegram has been received, stating that four mares and ten foals, selected by Sir Hercules Robinson were shipped for Auckland on the 16th instant. Sabritzky, who was recently fined for his conduct in connection with the wreck of the American whaler at A tvanui, intends to bring an action for £500 against Mr. Ball, J.P., who fined him, for wrongful imprisonment. The Southern Cross arrived from Fiji yesterday.
