At the Supreme Court yesterday, Whakahika te Pakarama was found j guilty of stealing a horse at Maraiharu, belonging to Hari Pikoi, and sentenced to two years' hard labor. This concluded the criminal business. There were two civil cases against Mr. W. L. Rees to be tried next Thursday, but the Registrar received intimation yesterday that they were ! settled. Judge Richmond will, therefore, leave to-morrow for Auckland by the Rotorua. A collision took place this morning on the road from town to the Spit, between a cab conveying the Gisborne passengers to the wharf and a buggy driven by Colonel Whitmore, containing Mrs. Whitmore and another lady. There was general breakage to the buggy, but no damage to occupants. AUCKLAND. This Day. There was a good deal of excitement in the share market yesterday, and a strong run is being made on Golden Crowns, which rose to 24s per Bhare. This Day. The ketch Clematis was run into by the s.s. Rotorua, and returned to Lyttelton, without much material damage.
