[from our own correspondent.] LONDON. December 4. THE FIVE MILLION LOAN The New Zealand five million loan has been issued with a minimum of 97*. The total reserve of notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £15,125,000. Consols, 975. The peace party is gaining ground in Europe. A meeting i3 being held of delegates from various countries. The total wool sales comprise 115,000 bales. Tone of market steady. Withdrawals, 400 bales. ST. PETERSBURG. December 3. ANOTHER ATTEMPT ON THE LIFE OF THE CZAR. An unsuccessful attempt was made on the life of the Emperor of Russia on his arrival in Moscow yesterday. Some baggage waggons following his carriage in the street were blown up, and seven carriages were destroyed. Fortunately no one was hu,rt. ' The perpetrators are undiscovered,, but the outrage is undoubtedly the work of the Nihilists. The Emperor replying to a deputation presenting a congratulatory address, thanked 'God for his escape and appealed to his subjects for aid in exterminating sedition.
