Here is one more sample of the reck--1.-8S extavagfince permitted by the late Ministry for their own luxurious indulgence. It came out in tho Assembly in reply to a question put by Mr. F. Sutton, as to what it had cost the country for Ministers' cab hire. It is not Baid that Sir Oeokge Grey blushed or hid his head to conceal his look of shame. But Sir George stilted that between July Ist, 1878, and September 13th, 1879, the country had been charged 19s. for Sir George Gre? ; £2 for Colonel Whitm »re, while Mr Sheehan's amounted to £219 11s 6d. Vouchers had been sent in for an additional sum of £84 Is 4d for cabhire for Mr. Shkehan, but of that sum only £20 had been paid. Further claims of a similar kind, amouutins to £14 18s, £5 6s, aud £11 18a respectively, had also been nuulr. Now, we ask are these the men to be our Ministers, and are they in any w;i.\ entitled to the smallest confidence to btplaced in them. Have they not earned, and most justly so, the concern >t of every honest inau in New Zealand ?
