» An Arch Purple meeting of the Star of Giaborne Loyal Orange Lodge will take place in Captiiu Porter's Hall, at 7.30 to-morrow evening. The trustee in the estate of John Warren notifies that all debts due must be paid within seven days from date, or they will be placed in the hands of a solicitor for recovery. A correspondent of the Leeds Mercury says that an important revolution is overhanging the iron, trade in Eugland, which threatens altogether to destroy the supremacy of the Clevelaud district. It has been discovered that the greater portion of the county of Northampton, a county hitherto given up to hunting, agriculture, and buotmakin^, is the seat of most valuable ironstone, which only under lies the surface by übout three feet. If this be so, then it will follow that the cost of iron producion must fall very considerably, and the further question is, as Northamptonshire produces no coal, whether it will be cheaper to convey the coal to the iron or the iron 10 the coal. At a late meeting of tho vestrymen of Kaiapoi Church, Church of England, it was stated that owing to the depression of the times, there was much difficulty in obtaining money to meet the clergyman's stipend, whereupon the Rev. Mr. Hampton, the incumbent said, "As the parish was in a state of pecuniary difficulty, he had made up his mind to cake only £200 per annum as stipend instead of £300 as heretofore.
