CORRESPONDENCE.

[We ito nnt bold ourselves responsible for opinion expressed by correspondents.] [To the Editor of the Herald.] Sir, — As several correspondents, with no doubt the best intentions, have taken an interest m the caae of Mrs. Attwood, I think it might not be considered trespassing too much on your kindness to tell the public what the case really is. Mrs. Attwood, about two years ago, met with an accident during her confinement, since which time she has been suffering from a complaint which has and will render her life a source of pbkpbtuaii misery to her, unless successfully operated upon. Dr. Pollen and I did so, and every thing was going on better than we ever expected, until unfortunately the person employed neglected her at the most critical pei iod. Mrs. Attwood now requires us, with a proper nurse, and none better than Mrs. Hamilton could be had for that purpose, as she is acquainted with the case, and I am confident that if Mrs. H. had been m attendance, our unfortunate patient would now have been going about quite well. Do you not think that gentlemen, before writing to the papers articles impitting negilence to others, should be more careful to ascertain the facts of the case. In this matter I would have been most happy to have given any information. I may state that Mr. East, Revs. Williams, McAra, Salter, Father Chastagnon, and several ladies, have always expressed themselves to me with reference to the case m the kindest manner, both by making inquiries and offering assistance ; but F. Attwood, I think, with commendable pride, was anxious to meet all expenses himself, but at the same time expressed himself grateful for the assitance offered. I am about to propose to-day that the Hospital, Benevolent Society, and F. Attwood contribute sufficient funds to enable us to obtain proper accommodalion and a special nurse, as the case will require exceptional care. — I am, &c, ; W. L. Jackson, L.R.O.S.
