THE S.S. ROSINA.
We are quite sure the commercial men uf Gisborne, and the settlers on tne East (Joust, will learn with extreme satisfaction that Mr R. G. Gibbous has - become the pin chaser uf the steamer Rosin a, for the purpose of keeping her 111 the trade. Had Mr Gibbons been unsuccessful m his negotiations, the Rosiua would have oeen bought up for another trade, and a great mischief would have been done to the port. We must therefore congratulate' Mr Gibbons upon the success ot his spirited enterprise. It. is not unlikely that the purchaser will give the Coast settlers au opportunity of participating m the benehts ot a locally owned steamer by the formation of a small company, which, m course of time, may find ii both profitable and convenient to extend its operations. The Rosiua, as shown by the accountant's books, has earned during the last twelve months £2250, as against working expenses of £L,701>, showing a clear net prone of £550, and this during a most unfavorable time. Whatever may come of the enterprise we are pleased to learn that this favorite little steamer is not to leave the trade of the port.
