CAPTAIN PORTER AND THE COMING ELECTIONS.

[To the Editor of the Heuald.] Sir, — When I want anything done for me which I am unable to do myself, I employ the man who is best fitted for the work. What we want in this part of the country, before we can expect to go ahead, is a representative who understands, and can grapple with the Native difficulties which surround us in respect to land tenure. Now who so well .understands the subject as Captain Porter. He has been in the Native Lands Department for a long time ; he speaks the language, and kn6ws every rope in connection with this knotty question. As to what is called the Liberal policy, that if carried or not, will affect us very little in comparison . with settling the titles of Native lands.— l am, &c, A Settler.
