The Premier's Financial Statement.

The following are the principal figures of the Financial tables, from which the Premier made his statement on Thursday night m the House of Representatives : — PUBLIC DEBT. The public deb 6 of New Zealand on the 30th June, 1879, under Acts of the 1 Colonial Government, debentures and Treasury bills m circulation under various ordinances of the Legislative Council, amount to £23,222,311. The Debentures and Treasury- Bills are redeemable at various points from 1880 to 1918. The total Sinking Funds secured is £1,709,007 5s 7d. The nett indebtedness, £21.513,303 143 sd. As to the annual charges, the rate of interest on different amounts varies from 3$ to 8 per cent. The total amount of interest is £1,083,943. The rate of interest on the sinking fund is 1 and 2 per cent, and the amount £116,176. The total annual charges being £1,200, 119. ORDINARY REVENUE. The ordinary revenue was estimated at £2,575,645 ; actual, £2,682,084 ; territorial revenue, estimated, £1,229,677 ; actual, £869,729 ; receipts specially applicable, estimated, £230.215 ; actual, £199,784 ; totals estimated, £4,045j537 ; actual, £3,751,598.
