A GYMNASIUM FOR GISBORNE.
{To the Editor of the Hkkald.] Sik, — A short time since, I noticed m the columns of the Herald a suggestion expressing the desirability of forming a gymnastic club m our town. I trust the matter will not be allowed to lapse for want of energy m intiating a begining, as I feel convinced £» club once started would prove a success. There are many who object to the game of football, as played at present, and who prefer to be spectators rather than participators m a pastime where there is so much danger to life and limb, who would greet the establishment of such a club with great delight. There are so many occupations which necessarily require close attention during the day, that it is impossible to indulge m any muscular exercise whatever. Among those who wonld, I feel assured, appreciate the institution of a gymnasium would be the members of the legal profession, clerks, and drapers' assistants, and more especially I should imagine by the confined printer, who all day long stoops overs his type cases, and must eagerly wish for a stretch after monotonous labour ; and so therefore on that account, I think, sir, it is deserving of your ablest, advocacy and sympathy. — I am, &c. , Muscle Grinder.
