Now, sir, will any of our open and independent electors recognise such proceedings ? are the twelve gentlemen who constituted 1 such hole-and-corner meeting: to. solely rule the Poverty, Bay electors 1 One : would imagine they intend doing so by the action taken. Why not call a public meeting, and give every electoran opportunity of expressing his. opinion? . or are we to be led by the sole 'desire oi those twelve men," and not even 'have achoicfß.Jo make. -. I am, of- opinion .that such meeting is very" ihjurious'to' either' of the candidates. Efowevjer, we-: will, probably see.— l am, &c., . . -. -■ An Elector. [The private meeting convened, was for the object of "calling a public meeting. It was no hole-and-corner affair, audits object was not to select a candidate. — Ed. E.H.]
