RE DISTRICT COURT.
[To tlie Editor of the Hkkam>.]
Sir, — In my opinion, the slander cast upon the Poverty Bay community is beyond a comparison in the English law. Are we, as Englishmen, to be degraded to such a low ebb as not to have twelve honest men amongst us ? What lias Messrs. Cooper and Brodie's case to do with the conscientious, honest jurors, of which there are plenty in Poverty Bay. I think the whole district is basely slandered if such opinion is held. Are we, as Englishmen, to stand by and hear our honesty and actions brought to such low repute. I would suggest that one of the. solicitors for Messrs. Cooper and Brodie, or else one of the community, call a public meeting forthwith, in order to vindicate our cause in ft just and upright manner. I am, &c. ,
