WAIROA.
This Day. Mi*. J. S. Bestie, practising at "Wairoa as a medical man, died suddenly on Tuesday morning at the Clyde Hotel. The deceased had been stopping at the Wairoa Hotel until* Monday when he left. He had lunch at the Clyde Hotel yesterday, and it is supposed went to bed about eight o'clock. Yesterday morning the servant heard peculiar stertorous breathing from, the room occupied by the deceased, and on going in Dr. Bestie was discovered in a comatose state. Dr. Ormond was called in, but found he could render no assistance, the untortunate man dying in a few moments. Deceased remarked to a servant of the hotel that the best thing he could do would be to take a dose of laudnum, from which it is inferred that deceased died of poison. An inquest will probably be held. He has a daughter married in Auckland.
