GISBORNE ROWING CLUB.
The scratch match between the United Bank crew, and the United Professions, on Saturday last, resulted in an easy victory for the U. P. 'a in the "Mermaid." Messrs. Huddleston and Balneavis, acting as starters, got the boats off"- well together, and the U. B.'s gained the advantage in the first few strokes, but owing to the indisposition of their stroke, soon fell out of the race, leaving it an easy victory for their rivals by several boats lengths.
United Professions. — " Mermaid " (White) : Stevens bow, Greenwood 2, Major 3, Wyllie stroke, Webb cox.
United Banks. — "Undine" (Blue): Bourke bow, Mountford 2, Carrick 3, Butt stroke, E. Bourke cox.
On Saturday week we expect to see a good race between the two fours picked by Mr. Boylan last week, and as they are all in for steady practice, a good thing mey be looked forward to.
