ARTESIAN WELLS.
To the Editor of the Evening Hkkald. Sir, — A correspondent asks you "How about the water supply V You might reply : "If you get it from Repongaere, you will pay a large sum of money for stagnant water and young eels. If you get it from the Waimata, you will pay a larger sum for an inadequate supply of water, which would very often bo too muddy for use. But if you sink artesian wells, you Avill bo sure to get water lit for all purposes, and while sinking for water, very likely would find gas, ore, or coal. I refer the Councillors to an article on artesian wells, pnblished in the Australasian of February the Bth, J879. — I am vtc, J. Cvvb\
