March 18. In the case against Drake and Collins, for getting up a consultation sweep, Mr. Watt, R.M., inflicted a fine of £10 and costs. Notice of appeal was given. In the case against Dodson, of the Empire Hotel, for allowing Calcutta sweeps to be drawn in his licensed house, a fine of £5 was inflicted, with costs, the Magistrate promising to inflict the full penalty of £20 for any future similar oflence.
