AUCKLAND.

This Day. The wreck of the steamer Geelong, at Whangape, has caused her owner, Mr. G. W. Binney, to suspend payment, as he cannot get timber out for want of a steamer. The liabilities are about £4200, of which £2700 is owing to the the Bank of New Zealand and £800 due at the South. The available assets are expected to yield 10s in the pound. Much sympathy has been expressed for Binney, and it is expected that arrangements '''ill be made that will enable him to tide over his present difficulties. A native meeting at Te Kopua is definitely fixed for the 23rd inst. Sir George Grey remains at Kawau until Wednesday next. The Native Minister is expected in Auckland in a few days.
