This Day. Insfcructiohs have been cabled to the Agent-General to send out 2000 immigrants during winter. A Gazette notifies that Allan McDonald, Esq., of Gisborne, has been appointed a Justice of the Peace. The following promotions in the Native Department are gazetted : — T. W. Lewis, Under-Secretary ; W. J. Morpeth, Chief Clerk ; W. Rattray, Record Clerk ; G. H. Davies, Translator j R. G. Gill, Under-Secretary Land Purchase Department; T. E. Young, Judge Native Land Court.
