This Day. The District prize firing for the rifles, commenced this morning at Mount Eden. Thefollowing areprize winners : — Lieuts. Skinner, Hay, and A. B. Morrow, Captain White, Lieut. Kelly, Volunteers Alderton, Still, Mac Donald, Allen, Sterling, Fairs, Byrne. The anniversary of the Auckland Fire Brigade was celebrated last night by dinner m the Cook Street Hall. Amongst invited guests, were the Capt. of H.I. M.S. Ariadne, and Capt.' of H.M.S. Sapphire, and other naval officers. The Members of the City Council, and a number of leading citizens were present. In the case of the boy Arnold, scalded to death at the Te Kopura Saw Mill the other day, the jury, at an adjourned inquest, returned a verdict of " Accidental Death."
