GRAHAMSTOWN.
February 18. Professor Ulrich, Mr. Crown, and Dr. Hector arrived here last week, from Auckland, and. will make an examination of the strata at the long level of the big pump shaft, to see whether gold exists in the vicinity. Dr. Payne, the Health Officer, has made a careful examination of the water in the reservoir supplying the town, and reports that it is most impure, being crowded both with animal and vegetable organisms. .
