Napier, This Day. yesterday, at "an inquest on DrillSergeant Kelsall, the verdict returned was "Accidentally Shot." A military funeral takes place to-day. An accommodation house at Woodville, formerly occupied by the murdered man Ollandt, and his partner Thompson, was burnt to the grrund on Monday evening, together with the bakehouse at the rear. Every effort was made by Constable Ironson and neighbours to extinguish the fire, but without success. Some few things that were on the premises were saved, but the value scarcely exceeds £5. The fire is believed to have been caused by a' spark alighting on the roof from the blazing bush, which had been on fire previously for two days. Neal and Close were owners of the house, and it was insured m the Hawke's Bay office for £200. The acceptances for the Napier Handicap, to be run on March 20, close at the Criterion Hotel on Saturday evening. Blenheim, This Day. Three men have been killed by a faH of earth m the tunnel. The names are Darrel, Sweeny, and Dramint.
Nelson, January 28. Mr Pitt addressed a crowded meeting of electors last night. About 1000 were present. ' He expressed himself against denominational educatian, but said he would support Mr. Curtis's Bill, as a means for giving justice to Catholics. He denied being pledged to the Catholic party, or to be seeking for a block vote. He would support the construction of a trunk railway to Nelson, if necessary, by every constitutional means. He favored a property tax, and an elective Upper House. He would oppose the introduction of Chinese, and would move for a Committee respecting regulation of the Friendly Societies. He favored a Local Option Bill, and would advocate the passing of an amended Licensing Bill. He received a vote of thanks.
Wellington, Yesterday. Mr. Conyers is still feverish, and occasionally light-headed, but is considered to be progressing satisfactorily. The following are the correct insurances on the Greytown fire : — Caselberg's premises, insured m New Zealand office, store for £500, and stock £1,250, of which £500 is re-insured m Lhe Liverpool, London, and Globe ; £500 m South British, and £375 m foreign offices ; "Victoria, £500 on stock ; United, £1,500 on stock, of which £750 is re-in-sured m New Zealand ; South British, £500 on stock. Imperial, £250 on store, and £250 on stock ; National, £500 on store. The total exports of the colony for 1878 were £6,015,525, and total imports £8,755,663. | Total export wool was 59,269,2561b5., valued at £3,202,807.

The regatta was the best for many years. The weather was favorable. The mail steamer City of Sydney was the flagship. The Rev. Carrick received a severe hurt on board, and will be incapacitated for pastoral duties for several weeks. The Champion race for Brigantines, Schooners and Ketches, — Transit, 1 ; Torea, 2 ; Adah, 3. Eight started. In the Trading Cutters' Race, Fannie, 1 ; Sovereign of Seas, 2 ; Rangatira, 3. Sailing boats or Yachts — Flying Fish, 1 ; Mary, 2. Trading Vessels — Wanderer, 1 ; Euphemia, 2 ; Avon, 3. Sailing boats or Yachts : — Phoenix, 1 ; Sabrina, 2. Open Sailing boats : — Alert, 1 ; Volunteer, 2 ; The Brothers, 3. At the Papakura Races, S. C. Caulton's Gillie Callum won the principal event, and Caulton's Harry Mount won the Hurdles and Maiden.
