[prom our special correspondent.] Melbourne, January 27. Tenders for the Exhibition building have been opened. There were seventeen. David Mitchell was the successful tenderer. McLaren, the New Zealand agitator of the unemployed, was denounced at a meeting of 300 working men, as having been employed at Sydney dnriner the strike to collect hands for New South Wales to replace the seamen on strike. The meeting expelled him ignominioujjly.
January, 29. The exports of wool since Ist January are 98,0001b5. The Arawata takes the English mail to New Zealand to-morrow morning. The Cabinet have resolved to support the action of the New South Wales and Queensland Governments, regulating Chinese immigration.
Sydney, January 27. The Sydney eleven won the cricket match against an English team by eight wickets and one run. During the cricket match with the English team Bannerman split his hand between the first and second fingers of the right hand. He was fielding, and was hard hit from mid-wicket. He was disabled from further play. There were 1 5,000 people on the ground.
January 29. Sir Hirculea Robinson received his Commission as Governor of New Zealand, and will probably leave here at the end of February. The Sapphire leaves Sydney on Saturday for Auckland, where she will stay a week and then proceed to Plymouth to be paid off. . . In the anniversary regatta, the Magic beat the Waitangi Yacht from New Zealand by 12 minutes. The course was round the harbour. The Magic's time was 3 hours 33 minutes. The Bulli Lock-out men retain the Union, and all future difficulties will be settled by arbitration. Montgomery was sentenced to five years for robbery of Jewellery belonging to Lady Robinson at Government House.
