DRIVER FOUND NOT GUILTY

ISLAND BOY MOTOR SMASH. A verdict of not guilty was returned by a jury in the Wellingtons Supremo Court on Friday in the case in which Frederick Patrick Hooker, aged 23, was charged with negligently driving a motor” car, thereby causing the deaths of four persons. The prosecution was a sequel to an accident when a car failed to negotiate the .corner of Milne Terrace and crashed 40 feet to the road below. The jury added riders expressing the opinion that, the corner should bo better lighter, and that the regulation governing the road-worthiness of cars should be "strictly enforced.

The victims of the smash were J. H, Wood, his wife Marjorie Wood, Olga Bardebes, any! E. J. Dickson.
