DOUBLE MURDER AT SYDNEY

MISS DENZIL’S BODY .FOUND,

ESCORT DIED DEFENDING HER,

Miss Dorothy Deuzil’s body was found in a shallow grave on Tuesday about two miles from the spot where her murdered escort, Frank Wilkinson, was found about 20 miles south of Sydney on Monday. The couple disappeared in a motor car last week.

Two soldiers from the remount depot were passing on horseback. One horse shied at a freshly disturbed mound of earth among the scrub. The police were summoned and found the girl’s body after only a little digging. It was quickly evident that the girl had met the same terrible fate as her male companion, Frank Wilkinson, aged 29, with whom she went for a motor ride, and whose body was found two miles from hers. 'The girl’s features were practically obliterated; she had been shot at close range with a shotgun. The body was practically naked except for a woollen pullover and a piece of dress was drawn tightly round her nock. The remainder of her clothing is missing.

The police are of opinion that the girl was brutally murdered within 10 feet of her grave, blood stains indicating the position where she fell.

Wilkinson’s features were almost unrecognisable owing to the fearful wounds. A shotgun was apparently fired at close range.

The police are of the opinion that he must have been killed in defending Miss Denzil, who was afterwards killed. One of her stockings was used to tic Wilkinson’s hands behind him before his death.

Two hundred police arc engaged on the crime, which is regarded as one of the most revolting.
