THE SCHOOL SOCIAL.

The first of a series of daaoes in aid of the local school funds was held in the Druid’s Hall on Wednesday evening. As was generally anticipated iiproved a brilliant success. The floor thanks to an energetic band of volunteers, was iu excellent condition and fie exceedingly cold night made dancing a pleasure. The music which was in the talented hands of Mrs Mitchell added greatly to the evenings enjoyment. As usual the supper provided by the ladies was both dainty and bountiful and was heartily enjoyed by all. The next dance of the aeries will be eagerly looked forward to by all who were present on Wednesday, the general consensus of opinion being that the function was one of homeliest and the most pleasant one could wish to have. The school it is anticipated will benefit by the dance to the tuna of over ten pounds when the Government subsidy is taken into consideration.
