ARBOR DAY.
Arbor Day was duly celebrated at the local Disfrict High School on Wednesday, a number of local residents assisting the children in the work of beautifying the approaoh to the terrace of the new school. Thanks to the generosity of the Patea Djmain Board and residents of the town and district, particularly Messrs J. E. Death, J. Fairweather, and Mrs J. Gibson, the School was provided with an abundance of trees, shrubs and flowers whioji were duly planted under the supervision of the teachers, Mr J. H. Johnson, of Committee, and Mr H- D. Armour assisting. As a result of the efforts of the children the whole of the approach to the terrace was planted and now presents a most attractive appearance. The ground which has now beon planted will be kept in order by the children in the future. We understand that tha Committee intend taking .stops shortly to have rhe whole of the front portion of the School playground levelled which should still further add to the attractiveness of che site. This work will entail an expenditure of about £SO, which the Committee hope to raiss in the course of a few months.
