Since the recent engagement between Cetewayo and Cham, in which the latter was defeated, Cham himself being captured further fighting has taken place, resulting in the defeat of (he followers of Cetewayo. ALEXANDRIA, July 14. The mortality from cholera is now generally decreasing. The epidemic, however, continues to spread, and cases have appeared at Talka Belkas, and Chobar. LONDON, July 14. The market rate for discount has advanced to 3|, and is now £ below bank rate.

Miss Blanche Stammers, the wellknown actress, died this morning after an illness of only a few hours, She took part in the performance at the Theatre Royal last night as usual. (Received July 16, 12.45 p.rn. Mr Service, the Premier, has received a telegram from the associated Chamber of Commerce of Great Britain, to the effect that in their opinion the agreement recently concluded between the Government and Count de Lesseps will hamper Australian trade for the next fifty years. Mr James Service, as -Colonial Treasurer, will probably make his financial statement on Wednesday next.
