NEW LINE OF STEAMERS. The New Zealand Shipping Company (Limited), have made arrangement for the establishment in connection with their well-known fine fleet of sailing vessels of monthly steam communication with the Mother Country by large and powerful steamers of the highest class. The company have contracted for the building of steamers of 4000 tons gross register each, to be built of steel, with all thelatest appliances and improvements, and with passenger accommodation of the most complete and ample kind. The vessels will also be fitted with refrigerators. Pending the completion of their own steamers, the company are arranging for the charter of the most suitable vessels procurable. The first steamer will leave London for Lyttelton direct on January 20th, 1883. She is the British King of 3559 tons register, built by Messrs Harland and Wolff, of Belfast, the builders of the White Star liners, and of the P. and O. Company’s most recent addition, the Shannon.
