(per PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 24. The Auckland: Choral Society has been requested to send a contingent to the forthcoming musical festival at Melbourne, but declined. Joseph Pittner, who Joined the Austrian army Just before the battle of Waterloo, died, recently at Pohui, aged 87, The Church and the Rev. Mr Smith’s parsonage at Hollock were burned on Tuesday last. Te Kooti has called a meeting to be held at Te Kuihi, and Tawhiao will be present. F. D. Fenton, acting on behalf of the Government, interviwed Te Wbeoro and the Natives at Whatiwhatiboe yesterday. Mr. Fenton explained that the Government were prepared to allocate lots of land to landless Waikatos. Taonui was the principal chief present of the Ngatimata. The Ngatimaniapoto natives asked time for consideration amongst themselves before replying, and are now in consultation. WELLINGTON, Nov. 24. In the Appeal Court this morning, the case of Connor v. Mackay (Dunedin) was concluded, judgment being reserved until after argument on the reserved by Judge Richmond. Conspiracy Case of Adams was also commenced. Mr Fovwood, who took over the case from Mr OHiverj appeared in support of the conviction being quashed, Messrs E. Shaw and Gully supporting the conviction. . The Court is still sitting.
