An experiment being tried out at the Palmerston North Intermediate School which is tiie first of its kind i,i New Zealand should go a lonii way towards popularising the housewifely arts among the older girls of the school. It will be remembered tlio new building contains a domestic training flat which has lately been mode residential. In response to an invitation from the Principal, Mr J. C. Whibley. and Miss K. J. Mirrieless, senior nristress (whpse inspiration it was) parents were a«ke<J to co-operate by allowing their daughters to participate in a practical scheme for training home-makers under residential conditions, a, nominal sum being asked to help pay for their food. It says rr.vch for the parents that the response was excellent. Each Monday morning two of the < lder girls arrive to take up their in the flat until Friday afternoon, 9 teacher being also on duty for this period, '•Fime-off is cf course allowed to go home each day if they like.
